Welcome to Bedford Guitar Teacher!
Firstly thank you for reading this blog, I hope that this content will be useful for you whether you’re a past, current, or potential future student who has just stumbled on this guitar teaching website by chance. Without further ado, allow me to introduce myself.
Who is Beds Guitar Teacher?
Hello! My name is Alex Partington and, I’ve been a guitarist for 25 years.
I started playing the guitar when I was 5 and have since successfully completed successfully completed my degree with a 2:1 in Music Commercial Composition and Technology from Hertfordshire University as well as having achieved grade 8 classical guitar with Merit (2 Marks of distinction!). Those mean examiners… Several Speech & Drama performances participated in Bedford Jazz Band for 4 years.
I have an interest in all guitar styles and with that comes a wide range of knowledge and musicality. Needless to say, I am enjoying my standard of playing and I hope to pass some of this knowledge on to you!
What services do you offer at Bedford Guitar Teacher?
Classical Guitar, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Music Theory – for guitar.
Although I have to some extent been classically trained later on in my guitar playing life, I am an unusual guitarist, because I can improvise extremely well as well as being able to read the sheet music. I currently enjoy playing Jazz, Rock, Blues, Acoustic Arrangements.
How do you teach the electric guitar?
In my studio, I teach the electric guitar using a wireless clip-on microphone to talk into, where the signal is then transmitted into an audio interface which outputs two headphones – one for the student and one for the teacher. All electric guitar lessons are designed for the individual student.
Do you need time to prepare a song that I want to learn?
My experience allows me to work out & teach standard tune, usually within about 20 – 25 minutes. Assuming you can change chord competently. Therefore you can expect to potentially learn 2 tunes per hour.
Do you travel to me or do I need to come to you?
You need to be able to travel to me, arrive on time with your guitar & music. Guitar lessons start and finish on time.
I’d like some guitar lessons, do you offer trial lessons?
Yes. If you’re an adult I’d recommend a half hour session, to begin with, to see if we get along. Beginners typically need to half an hour a week, to begin with, and eventually an hours lesson depending on practice.
If it’s for your son/daughter, 2 half-hour sessions are recommended (half hour of Music Theory and half hour guitar)
